About The Position

Betsy Ross Nursing & Rehab Center is seeking a Speech Language Pathologist (SLP) to join their team. This role involves optimizing communication, cognitive-linguistic abilities, and swallowing skills of residents through a strong Speech Language Pathology therapy program. The SLP will be responsible for preventing, assessing, evaluating, diagnosing, and treating disorders affecting speech, language, social communication, cognitive-communication, and swallowing in adults. The position also includes providing training and education to residents and their loved ones, as well as performing quality patient care such as screening, evaluation, developing treatment and discharge plans, and case management.

Requirements

  • Must hold appropriate professional license in NY in good standing
  • Adhere to all state and federal regulations regarding SLP therapy
  • Skilled Nursing Facility (SNF)/Nursing Home Experience Required
  • An SLP/CCC or SLP/CFY (Required)
  • Dedicated to providing extraordinary, clinically sound, & compassionate care
  • Must possess a spirit of cooperation, caring & enthusiasm to create an atmosphere conducive to rehabilitation & optimal resident health
  • Genuinely interested in helping ill, injured, disabled, elderly, emotionally upset, & sometimes challenging residents
  • Have excellent communication, customer service, & organization skills
  • Able to work well under pressure & willing to work harmoniously with all staff

Responsibilities

  • Optimize communication, cognitive-linguistic abilities, and swallowing skills of residents by providing, directing, and/or overseeing a strong Speech Language Pathology therapy program.
  • Build a program to prevent, assess, evaluate, diagnose, and treat any disorders that the resident has been diagnosed with that affect speech, language, social communication, cognitive-communication, and swallowing disorders in adults.
  • Provide training and educate the resident and their loved ones on the programs.
  • Provide quality patient care including screening and evaluation of patients, development of initial and ongoing treatment plans of care, discharge plan, and case management responsibilities.
