About The Position

Children's Academy is looking for a licensed Speech-Language Pathologist. Children's Academy is a private K–12 school designed for children with speech and language differences. In alignment with CA's unique collaborative model, SLPs take on a critical classroom-based role to support students' speech and language skills throughout their school day. The SLP will join a strong department of experienced SLPs with access to the most up-to-date research and continuing education.

Requirements

Valid New York State Speech-Language Pathologist license
School-based experience
Clear criminal record
Superior organizational skills
Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC-SLP)

Nice To Haves

Working knowledge of gestalt language processing
Experience with a variety of AAC programs
Foundational awareness of apraxia treatments (PROMPT training will be provided)

Responsibilities

Observe and assess all students' speech and language needs on an ongoing basis
Treat students individually for speech and language needs, including receptive language, expressive language, speech/articulation, AAC, oral motor issues, pragmatic language, schematic play, voice/fluency, feeding, and more
Write comprehensive reports, including initial evaluations, mid-year progress reports, and end-of-year evaluations
Maintain daily session data
Create relevant and functional speech goals for inclusion on each child's IEP
Collaborate with grade-level and classroom staff as part of an interdisciplinary team
Co-teach ELA/Literacy class with a special education teacher
Lead social skills groups
