Speech/Language Pathologist
About The Position
Provide speech and language services to students with a variety of communication disabilities. This includes conducting evaluations, establishing goals, writing IEPs, and attending IEP meetings. The role involves providing direct speech therapy and consultative services, consulting with teachers, parents, caregivers, and medical providers, and maintaining records. Responsibilities also include reporting progress, attending Section 504 meetings, inventory management, equipment maintenance, data collection, and adhering to the Code of Ethics of the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association. The position requires knowledge and skills in various areas of speech and language pathology, including articulation/phonology, fluency, voice/resonance, receptive and expressive language, literacy, social aspects (pragmatics), cognitive aspects, multiculturalism, augmentative/alternative communication, behavior, hearing, and swallowing as they pertain to students in public schools. Familiarity with IDEA and SPED laws and regulations, as well as continuing education as per license requirements, is also necessary.
Requirements
- Massachusetts Certified Speech and Language Pathologist
- Master’s Degree
- Knowledge and skills in the areas of: articulation/phonology, fluency, voice/resonance, receptive and expressive language, literacy, social aspects (pragmatics), cognitive aspects, multiculturalism, augmentative/alternative communication, behavior, hearing, swallowing as they pertain to students in the public schools.
- Familiarity with IDEA and SPED laws and regulations.
