About The Position

The Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) evaluates, plans, and implements individualized treatment programs to support patients with speech, language, voice, cognitive-communication, and swallowing disorders. The goal is to enhance functional communication, safe swallowing, and overall quality of life while promoting the highest level of patient independence. All responsibilities are carried out in alignment with the mission, vision, and values of Tampa General Hospital, ensuring a patient-centered approach to care.

Requirements

  • Master's In Speech Pathology
  • Speech Language Pathologist FL DOH License
  • Basic Life Support
  • Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC)
  • Strong foundation in clinical skills
  • Patient-centered care
  • Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team

  • Expertise in Hospital-based Rehabilitation
  • Expertise in Outpatient Rehabilitation

Responsibilities

  • Evaluates patients, plans care, provides treatment, assesses progress, adjusts goals and treatment plans, and makes discharge recommendations as per the American Speech Language Hearing Therapy Association (ASHA) guidelines.
  • Ensures consideration of the age and developmental level of patients in all aspects of care.
  • Demonstrates current knowledge and expertise in patient care.
  • Responds to new evaluations within the specific time frame stated in the Policies and Procedures for various areas of work.
  • Remains alert to changes in patients’ conditions and the work environment, responding appropriately.
  • Provides accurate, timely, and consistent documentation of patient care, patient/family education, and response to care in the medical record.
  • Ensures all patient care goals are measurable and include a specific timeframe for attainment.
  • Plans, provides, and maintains a safe environment for patients, staff, and families.
