About The Position

This is a temporary position with NC DHHS DCFW CDSA, located at 2500 Heart Drive, Asheville NC, Buncombe County. The agency is seeking a Speech and Language Pathologist (SLP) to work in a multi-disciplinary pediatric setting. The ideal candidate will have a licensure in good standing and will be able to apply their knowledge of speech/language pathology principles to children birth to three years of age, including speech and language development, articulation, phonology, oral-motor function, and pediatric dysphagia. The selected candidate will be personable and able to deal tactfully and effectively with patients, families, medical personnel, other staff, and the public. The role involves travel throughout a 4-county area (Buncombe, Madison, Henderson and Transylvania) with reimbursement or a state vehicle provided. The candidate will apply working knowledge of augmentative communication options and devices, deliver SLP services both in-person and virtually, and evaluate patient response and progress, presenting reports in case staffings and multi-disciplinary team meetings.

Requirements

  • Licensure in good standing
  • Ability to apply knowledge of the principles, techniques, and methods of speech/language pathology applicable to children birth to three years of age
  • Ability to deal tactfully and effectively with patients, patients’ families, medical personnel, and other CDSA staff members, and public
  • Licensed by the Board of Examiners for Speech and Language Pathologists and Audiologist.

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s Degree in Communication Disorders/Speech-Language Pathology
  • 2 years of experience as a Speech/Language Pathologist
  • Certification of Clinical Competence by the American Speech Language Hearing Association
  • Licensed to practice as a speech/language pathologist in the state of North Carolina
  • Considerable knowledge of services, policies and procedures related to area of specialization
  • Ability to utilize relevant technology (software and systems) to meet organizational needs
  • Ability to identify and understand issues, problems, and opportunities; use effective approaches for choosing a course of action or developing appropriate solutions
  • Ability to present ideas clearly and effectively in written form and adjust language or terminology to meet the needs of the audience
  • Ability to use correct grammar, organization, and structure

Responsibilities
