The Speech Language Pathologist uses specialized knowledge and training in speech language pathology services, as well as independent judgment and discretion, to assess, diagnose, and treat speech, language, cognitive communication, voice, swallowing, fluency, and other related disorders. The incumbent will integrate the hospital’s mission and guiding principles into daily practice, carrying out duties by adhering to the highest standards of ethical and moral conduct, acting in the best interest of Three Crosses Regional Hospital, and fully supporting the mission, vision, and values of the organization. The incumbent will have knowledge of health care systems and demonstrated ability to interact, relate to, work with, and support the activities of a diverse workforce.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology
  • 2 years of professional working experience in hospital setting
  • Meet all Employee Health Requirement
  • Current state license as a Speech Language Pathologist / SLP
  • BLS certification

Responsibilities

  • Perform patient assessment, establish plan of care and prepares discharge plans.
  • Provide skilled speech therapy services/interventions in accordance with physician orders.
  • Assess patient needs, plans for, evaluates and modifies care to meet goals of speech therapy interventions.
  • Set realistic and achievable goals for patients to develop, or recover, reliable communication and swallowing skills so that patients can fulfill their educational, vocational and social roles.
  • Evaluates effectiveness of treatment and modifies as necessary.
  • Uses age specific standards, policies and procedures and guidelines to perform treatments and procedures that are routine.
  • Performs therapy interventions utilizing standard therapy techniques and skills as appropriate for the condition of the patient.
  • Educates and counsels patients and family regarding treatment plans.
  • Coordinates with interdisciplinary team on patient needs, dietary requirements, treatment modifications, and progress.
  • Completes patient documentation in a thorough, timely and effective manner.
  • Provides an environment conducive to safety for patients and staff. Assesses the risk for safety and implement appropriate precautions including infection control.
  • Attend staff meetings as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned.
