About The Position

The Speech-Language Pathologist (per diem) is responsible for performance of all speech-language, communicative, and swallowing diagnostic and rehabilitative procedures; specifically, conducts evaluations and analyzes the results to diagnose the disorder; recommends and conducts appropriate rehabilitation intervention; counsels the patient and family (as approved by the patient) as to the current status of the patient and plans appropriate intervention to address the specific needs of the patient; writes reports on all diagnostic and rehabilitative procedures in the EMR.

Requirements

  • Master's Degree in Speech Language Pathology
  • Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech Language Pathology completed
  • Minimum of two (2) years as a clinical speech language pathologist in a large medical center-based practice preferred.
  • Experience working with children and/or adults, depending on the assigned setting.
  • Clinical experience with a variety of diagnoses to include post-surgical, developmental, neurological, genetic, oncologic, and traumatic.
  • Must maintain a current unrestricted license to practice as a Speech-Language Pathologist in CT.
  • A valid driver's license and proof of car insurance are required when using a personal vehicle for company business.
  • Access to a dependable vehicle in order to travel to multiple stops a day.
  • CPR certification is required and must be maintained. Candidates who do not have certification are required to obtain it within 3 months (90 days) of hire.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with multidisciplines.
  • Must be adaptable, flexible, able to learn quickly, and use critical thinking skills.
  • Strong computer skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Home care experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Able to interpret physician referrals to perform basic clinical evaluations.
  • Attends department in-services.
  • Complies with health system and Department Policies and Procedures.
  • Participates in regular meetings with supervisor and/or team leader and reports pertinent information on a timely basis.
  • Demonstrates respect and regard for the dignity of all patients, families, visitors, and fellow employees to ensure a professional, responsive, and courteous health system environment.
  • Case management of a modified caseload as needed, per managers discretion.
  • May perform other duties as assigned.
