About The Position

Performs professional work of considerable difficulty in various phases of research studies of children and young adults, with communication disorders, and those with typical development. This role manages daily lab activities including schedules and budgets, leads participant recruitment efforts, and supervises and mentors lab assistants. The Speech Language Pathologist administers standardized tests, manages communication with the Internal Review Board, and represents the laboratory on social media platforms. They also assist in the preparation of stimuli, development of test procedures, data entry, and establishing reliable research procedures. Additionally, this position may provide transportation for patients, patient care, and education.

Requirements

  • Masters in science or Masters in art degree in Speech/Language Pathology required.
  • Possess a valid driver's license with a good driving record required.
  • Pass an annual Motor Vehicle Registration (MVR) check required.
  • Ability to provide own transportation (mileage reimbursed) to complete travel requirements of the job required.
  • Meet auto insurance requirements established by Boys Town policy and/or State and Local laws required.
  • Have or be eligible for NE state licensing with 2 years of transfer or hire required.
  • Certification from the American Speech / Language Hearing Association (ASHA), showing Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC) or its equivalent within 2 years of transfer or hire required.
  • Collaborative Institutional Training Initiative (CITI) certification within 30 days of transfer or hire required.
  • Ability to work with others in an environment that encourages respect, transparency, and ethical actions.
  • Ability to organize and prioritize assigned tasks so that they are completed accurately and on time.
  • Ability to remain flexible in duties performed.
  • Ability to make decisions and solve problems independently as a professional with general supervision.
  • Ability to provide information to parents about their child's language abilities and information about contacts and resources for clinical interventions in a sensitive manner.
  • Ability to apply knowledge in the area of normal speech and language development and speech/language disorders.
  • Ability to communicate well and concisely, both orally and in writing.
  • Ability to use equipment such as video cameras and personal computers.
  • Ability to operate a personal computer and use Microsoft Office Software, including Microsoft Excel and Word.
  • Ability and willingness to learn research-specific software.

Nice To Haves

  • Minimum of three years of experience in the area of evaluation and/or interventions with individuals with communication disorders preferred.
  • Minimum of one year of research lab experience as a student or professional preferred.
  • Fluency in Spanish preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Assists in the preparation of stimuli and development of appropriate test procedures.
  • Enters data into databases.
  • Works with other team members to establish and document reliable research procedures.
  • Provides transportation for patients as needed.
  • Provides patient care and education according to the patient population served.
