About The Position

The staff Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) evaluates and treats patients primarily within The James Cancer Hospital. Patients served have deficits associated with cancer or the treatment thereof. Rehabilitation needs may be related to concomitant disorders including but not limited to neurological, gastroenterological, orthopedic, and cardiopulmonary etiologies. Cross-coverage within other rehabilitation services departments may be arranged depending on service needs. The SLP works as part of an interdisciplinary team, including physical therapy and occupational therapy within the rehabilitation services department. This position works under the direct supervision of the Rehabilitation Services Manager and follows all applicable local, state, and national laws and regulations set forth for the practice of Speech-Language Pathologists.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited Speech-Language Pathology educational program.
  • State of Ohio licensure as an Speech-Language Pathologist.
  • Certificate of Clinical Competence from the American Speech-Language Hearing Association.
  • A Master's degree in Speech Pathology or equivalent combination of education and experience is required.
  • Certification of Clinical Competency from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association and Ohio Licensure in Speech Pathology required.
  • Those completing a Clinical Fellowship Year (CFY/SLP) may be considered.

Nice To Haves

  • Minimum of one year of experience working in the hospital setting as an SLP.
  • Typically, one-two years experience working in a medical setting is preferred.
