About The Position
Metro's Speech Department is seeking a per diem Speech-Language Pathologist for Nassau County. This role primarily involves homecare, with potential to expand into outpatient clinics across Long Island. The caseload includes adults with conditions such as Aphasia, Dysphagia, Voice disorders, Cognitive Communication Disorders, and AAC use. The ideal candidate is motivated, compassionate, and forward-thinking, skilled in assessing patient needs and developing creative treatment plans. Flexibility and a proactive approach to challenges are highly valued.
Requirements
- Licensed Speech-Language Pathologist in the state of New York or eligible.
- Mandatory Certifications: First Aid, AED, & CPR Certifications (live course)
Nice To Haves
- Experience in treating adults and dysphagia.
- Clinical Fellow applicants are encouraged to apply.
Responsibilities
- Evaluates a patient's need for speech therapy and develops an appropriate treatment plan.
- Provide appropriate care and treatment to patients based on physician care plan, agency policy and professional standards of care.
- Instructs family members, Home Health Aides, and other caregivers in appropriate speech therapy techniques & HEP
