Speech Language Pathologist
About The Position
A Speech/Language Pathologist shall plan, direct and perform Speech/Language Pathology evaluations and care plans individualized to meet the need of each patient. Care plans shall be developed that promote restoration of function, restoration and/or development of language and cognitive skills, education of the patient and their families about rehabilitation principles, restoration and/or development of oral skills and swallowing function and interventions that restore communication skills. Service lines at the hospital include obstetrics and gynecology, cardiology (including a cath lab and electrophysiology capabilities), cancer care, neuroscience (Brainlab technology and stroke treatments) and weight loss surgery. These services help the medical center provide treatment options close to home for patients.
Responsibilities
- Plan, direct and perform Speech/Language Pathology evaluations and care plans individualized to meet the need of each patient
- Develop care plans that promote restoration of function, restoration and/or development of language and cognitive skills, education of the patient and their families about rehabilitation principles, restoration and/or development of oral skills and swallowing function and interventions that restore communication skills
- Supervise Speech/Language Pathology students and volunteers
- Participate in scheduling of patient treatments
- Participate in multidisciplinary care planning and patient education
- Provide team support of other areas of service besides their assigned home department
