About The Position

Wonderful College Prep Academy (WCPA) is seeking a Speech Language Pathologist to provide speech and language services to students with oral communication and speech/language impairments. This role involves screening, assessment, goal development, and implementing treatment services to support student learning. WCPA is a free, public charter network in California’s Central Valley committed to providing a world-class education. Founded in 2009, WCPA serves 2,400 students across two TK-12 schools in Lost Hills and Delano, offering innovative learning experiences, technology, and a focus on health and wellness. The academy provides on-site wellness centers, over 30 sports teams, learning farms, teaching kitchens, a modern dining hall, and the Wonderful Career Pathways program, allowing students to earn college credits and an associate degree while in high school. Requirements

  • Master's degree from an accredited college or university in Speech Language Pathology or Communicative Disorders
  • Valid Clinical Credential from the California Commission on Teacher Credentialing in Language, Speech, and Hearing, OR a California License as a Speech Language Pathologist
  • Relates positively to children and instills in them a desire to improve.

  • Demonstrates personality characteristics that enhance effectiveness in a school setting.
  • Communicate effectively and use appropriate professional language skills in writing and speaking.

Responsibilities

  • Provide speech and language services to meet the individual needs of students with oral communication and speech/language impairments.
  • Screen and assess students' speech and language abilities.
  • Develop individualized goals for students.
  • Plan and implement appropriate speech and language treatment services to maximize student learning.
  • Support a vision of excellence for all students and work towards ambitious student outcomes.
  • Foster a safe, culturally responsive, and nurturing community where students love learning.
  • Create engaging learning experiences aligned to the academic model to accelerate student learning and achievement.
  • Regularly engage in individual student case management and make data-driven decisions.
  • Develop and execute innovative teaching and learning strategies.
  • Commit to continuous growth, engage in professional development, and contribute to the professional learning community.
  • Communicate regularly with families and attend key community events.
  • Determine a student's needs based on assessment provided by the student's school or outside agencies.
  • Conduct formal and/or informal assessments necessary to develop an appropriate diagnostic-prescriptive program.
  • Convey pertinent information to appropriate personnel, including referrals to community agencies.
  • Determine if students are eligible for services in the areas of articulation/phonology, abnormal voice, fluency, and language.
  • Provide written reports for parents and applicable personnel after assessment is completed.
  • Develop and implement an Individualized Education Plan (IEP) and review IEPs at least annually.
  • Write progress reports.
  • Provide information and assistance to parents.
  • Schedule and provide individual and/or group therapy as determined by the IEP team.
  • Meet and confer with administrators and teachers about methods and techniques for dealing with special problems and modifying education programs for speech/language/hearing problems.
  • Arrange necessary materials and equipment for speech therapy activities.
  • Assume responsibility for implementation of Standard School District policies, State Department of Education regulations, and Federal regulations related to speech and language therapy services.
  • Pursue professional growth through conferences, workshops, and coursework.
