About The Position

Speech Language Pathologist (SLP) Full-time. Bring your passion to Texas Health so we are Better + Together. Work location: Texas Health Ft. Worth, 1301 Pennsylvania Avenue, Ft. Worth, TX 76104, Therapy Services. Work hours: Full Time, 40 hours/week, Monday - Friday 8:00-8:30AM - 4:30-5:00PM with 30-minute lunch; Weekend On-Call Requirement – Weekend on call requirement 1 or less per quarter; Holidays – Minor Holiday (Memorial Day, Juneteenth, 4th of July, Labor Day, New Year's Day) - sign up for 3 shifts per year; Major Holiday (Easter, Thanksgiving, Christmas) rotation for on call for swallowing evaluations. Therapy Services highlights: Supporting the 815-bed, Magnet-designated, full-service hospital that has served the Ft. Worth and surrounding community since 1930. Supportive team in an acute care trauma hospital.

Requirements

  • Master's Degree Speech Language Pathology Required Or Other Post-Baccalaureate degree recognized by the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association Required
  • SLP Experience with adult population, acute care hospital-based, inpatient setting.
  • SLP - Speech Language Pathology Texas Speech Language Pathology License Upon Hire Required Or SLP-I - Speech Language Pathology Intern Texas Speech Language Pathology Intern License Upon Hire Required
  • BCLS - Basic Cardiac Life Support prior to providing independent patient care and maintained quarterly Required.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills in English.
  • Problem- solving ability; Ability to teach others.
  • Time management skills; Good interpersonal and customer service skills, Basic leadership skills.

Nice To Haves

  • SLP - Speech Language Pathology Texas Speech Language Pathology License Upon Hire Preferred
  • Strongly prefer CCC – Certificate of Clinical Competence in SLP

Responsibilities

  • Performs age-appropriate patient assessment and establishes plan of care.
  • Uses therapeutic treatment techniques appropriate to patient age and desire for treatment.
  • Educates patient and family through instruction, demonstration, and/or appropriate handouts in treatment plan, safety issues, home programs/self-management and assistive equipment.
  • Documents all aspects of assessment, plan of care, and re-certifications in accordance with departmental, TJC, Medicare, and other applicable regulatory guidelines.
  • Works in partnership with peers, other disciplines, and departmental personnel
