About The Position

Select Specialty Hospital – Orlando Central is a 31-bed free-standing critical illness recovery hospital. We specialize in helping critically ill patients breathe, speak, eat, walk and think as independently as possible. Our hospital also offers medical rehabilitation through Select Medical Rehabilitation, a 32-bed acute rehabilitation unit. The unit is designed to meet an individual’s rehabilitation needs and goals through a range of programs and services. The unit is located within Select Specialty Hospital – Orlando Central.

Requirements

• Current state licensure as a Speech Language Pathologist required.
• Certified BLS or completion in first 90 days of employment required.

Nice To Haves

• Current Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC) in Speech Language Pathology from the American Speech-Language & Hearing Association.

Responsibilities

• Take initiative, responsibility, and action every day; you understand physical, mental, psychological and social needs of your patients.
• Have an understanding of communication skills, evaluation, and treatment and a desire to work in collaboration with associates to provide quality interdisciplinary patient programming.
• Provide a comprehensive evaluation of communication skills and/or swallowing function and provide goal-oriented treatment to facilitate maximum communication and/or swallowing potential.
• Participate with fellow staff in monitoring the quality of services provided by the Rehab Therapy Department.
• Participate in peer review for staff performance and appraisals.
• Assist in the development of the SLP role in programs and services, as well as revising the departmental policies and procedures.
• Assist in maintaining an adequate stock of supplies.
• Exhibit willingness to share professional knowledge and experience. Alert the Manager to educational needs.
