About The Position

Huron Valley Schools is seeking an enthusiastic and positive speech and language practitioner. Must be in alignment with best practices for providing services. This professional will need to be a highly collaborative employee, working with a broad range of service providers and staff, and be an effective communicator in using both verbal and written skills.

Requirements

Valid Michigan Speech-Language Pathology License and American Speech Language Hearing Association CCC.
Knowledge of the workings of a school environment, including an understanding of the state and federal rules and regulations governing special education, Michigan Academic Standards, district curriculum and specially designed instruction.
Knowledge and skills in the subject area of speech-language pathology and related areas (e.g. literacy)
Highly developed interpersonal communication, group facilitation, organization, planning, scheduling, technology and time management skills.
Experience and knowledge of children and youth from early intervention through adult transition age.
Demonstrated ability to implement and follow through on simultaneous projects and tasks
Knowledge of current research base across a range of disorders, changing trends and best practices in the field of speech and language pathology and ability to put this learning into action in the schools
Knowledge and/or experience with integrating technology into the learning process
Master's Degree or higher.
Ability to speak and write effectively.
Ability to apply mathematical concepts to practical situations.
Ability to carry out instructions furnished in written or oral format and deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

Responsibilities

Provide school-based direct, consultative, and indirect speech and language services that are culturally responsive, educationally appropriate, engaging, and grounded in evidence-based practices, using flexible service delivery models aligned to individual student needs.
Conduct speech and language evaluations and reevaluations in accordance with state and federal regulations, documenting the presence or absence of a delay, its educational impact, eligibility for special education, and student progress, while maintaining accurate case records and required documentation.
Collaborate with families, general and special education teachers, administrators, and other professionals to support students in the least restrictive environment, including classroom observation, curriculum analysis, instructional problem-solving, and intervention planning.
Participate in and facilitate IEP and MET meetings; support augmentative and alternative communication (AAC) systems; provide staff training and consultation; and contribute to building-level and district-wide initiatives, including MTSS when approved by administration.
Use data to guide prevention, intervention, evaluation, and program improvement; communicate student progress toward IEP goals regularly; and maintain appropriate professional credentials, including state licensure and ASHA certification (CCC-SLP), through ongoing professional learning.
