As a leader in our Community Preschool Education (CPE) program you’ll be empowering a dedicated team of professionals, guiding program-level policies, and directly transforming the lives of children and their families. This is a unique, hybrid leadership role designed for an experienced Speech-Language Pathologist who wants to expand their impact through mentorship and strategic decision-making. Your time will be carefully balanced between two core priorities: 0.4 FTE Leadership & Mentorship: Guiding, coaching, and supporting a dedicated department of 7–12 direct reports. 0.6 FTE Clinical Work: Managing a reasonable caseload of up to 14 preschool-aged children.

Requirements

• Master’s Degree in Speech-Language Pathology.
• Current, active registration with ACSLPA.
• Proven experience in early intervention and supporting preschool-aged children.
• Foundational experience supervising, mentoring, or leading a team.

• Professional Growth: Ability to collaborate with the Director of CPE to research, source, and recommend impactful professional events, relevant research topics, and continuous educational opportunities.
• Valid Police Record Check with Vulnerable Sector and a Child Intervention Record Check (completed within the last 6 months).
• Valid Alberta Driver’s License, reliable transportation, and vehicle insurance (for site visits).
• Standard First Aid & CPR (Child Care Level) or willingness to obtain within 90 days.
• Willingness to wear PPE for site visits as required.

Responsibilities

• Mentor & Coach: Conduct shadow visits, provide ongoing feedback, and facilitate quarterly evaluations to ensure your team is utilizing best-in-class, evidence-based, inclusive practices.
• Collaborate & Influence: Meet monthly with senior leadership to guide agency policies, set actionable goals, and define departmental priorities.
• Cultivate Community: Create agendas and lead monthly Departmental meetings and Collabs; lead or support professional development and training sessions for staff and Educational Assistants (EAs).
• Operational Ownership: Manage day-to-day operations for your department, including onboarding new team members, approving timesheets/leave requests, and managing the discipline's annual material and assessment budget.
• Assess & Intervene: Support up to 14 children with diverse developmental and communication profiles in their natural childcare or preschool environments.
• Multidisciplinary Collaboration: Co-create and implement holistic Individual Program Plans (IPPs) alongside OTs, PTs, Coordinating Teachers, and Assistants.
• Empower Families & Partners: Actively collaborate with families to review individual program plans to create a unified, supportive plan forward for the child.
• Mentorship: Supervise and mentor SLPAs by assigning service plans and reviewing session notes, while guiding EAs on effectively integrating communication strategies into daily routines
