About The Position

Arizona Autism Charter Schools (AZACS) is seeking a Speech Language Pathologist (SLP) for their Phoenix Main Campus, serving students in grades 4th-12th for the 26/27 school year. AZACS is an award-winning organization recognized for its innovation in education and providing transformational experiences through unique individualized learning programs for autism charter schools. The SLP will work under the supervision of the Campus Assistant Director and is responsible for implementing student engagement strategies, conducting assessments, writing and monitoring individualized communication goals, and making data-driven instructional decisions. The role also involves implementing Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) strategies, developing treatment plans, providing speech and language services to students with IEPs, and potentially supervising Speech-Language Pathology Assistants (SLPAs). The SLP will also be responsible for attending MET and IEP meetings, consulting with various stakeholders, following school-wide systems, coaching staff on communication goals, supporting Augmentative Communication Devices, and ensuring paperwork compliance. Regular attendance and participation in staff training are essential. Additional duties may be assigned.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology from an accredited school of speech-language pathology.
  • Experience delivering services in a school setting, in a classroom integration model, is preferred
  • Ability to approach situations with optimism and perseverance
  • Excellent verbal, written, and organizational skills
  • Minimum of two years of SLP experience in a school setting preferred
  • Experience and training in Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) preferred
  • Valid Arizona fingerprint clearance card
  • SLP-CCC Preferred
  • Required: Arizona IVP Fingerprint clearance card
  • Valid Speech-Language Pathology License
  • ADE Speech-Language Pathology Certification
  • Master’s Degree or higher
  • stooping, crouching, reaching, standing, walking, fingering, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing, seeing, and repetitive motions.
  • Light Work: Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects.

Responsibilities

  • Implement student engagement strategies that ensure adequate progress toward goals.
  • Conduct assessments/evaluations and collect data on students.
  • Write, implement, and progress monitor individualized communication goals for students on your caseload.
  • Engage in data-driven instruction decisions with the entire team.
  • Implement Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) strategies throughout all practices.
  • Develops treatment plans, interventions, and/or educational materials for the purpose of meeting individualized student objectives and ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Provide Speech and language services to students with IEPs.
  • Possible supervision of SLPAs with the implementation of speech and language services in the classroom, depending on caseload numbers.
  • Write and attend MET and IEP meetings as the SLP service coordinator.
  • Evaluate students in the area of speech and language as determined by the MET team.
  • Implement communication goals identified on student IEPs.
  • Consults with teachers, parents, other personnel, and/or outside professionals for the purpose of providing requested information, developing plans for services, and/or making recommendations and/or referrals.
  • Follow school-wide systems, rules, and positive behavior interventions.
  • Deliver services in a classroom integration model.
  • Coach classroom staff and SLPAs on the implementation of speech/communication goals.
  • Support for staff and students with Augmentative Communication Devices.
  • Support classroom curriculum as it relates to language acquisition.
  • Communicate effectively and proactively with students and families.
  • Responsible for paperwork compliance.
  • Accountability for growth and proficiency in IEP goals.
  • Participate in annual and ongoing staff training.
  • Complete Medicaid billing.
  • May be required to coach, monitor, and mentor up to 2 Speech-Language Pathology Assistants working with students with disabilities.
