About The Position

Kindred Hospital - Houston Northwest is a long-term acute care hospital (LTACH) located at 11297 Fallbrook Drive in Houston, Texas. It’s designed for patients with complex medical needs who require extended recovery time—often following a stay in a traditional hospital ICU. The hospital specializes in treating conditions like respiratory failure, sepsis, stroke, complex wounds, and congestive heart failure. Many patients require ventilators, dialysis, or IV therapy. The hospital is Joint Commission Accredited and certified in Long-Term Acute Care with disease-specific certifications in Respiratory Failure and Sepsis. As a Speech Language Pathologist (SLP) joining the team, you’ll be embracing a vital mission dedicated to making communities healthier. The role involves evaluating and treating individuals with speech, language, voice, and swallowing disorders, supporting patient recovery and communication improvement.

Requirements

• Master’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology.
• Current SLP license and ASHA certification.
• CPR certification required.
• Strong communication skills and clinical judgement required.

Nice To Haves

• Experience in acute or rehab setting preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assess speech, language, and swallowing abilities.
• Develop and implement treatment plans based on patient needs.
• Provide education to patients and families regarding therapy goals.
• Document evaluations, treatments, and patient progress accurately.
• Collaborate with healthcare teams on care coordination.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
