Requirements

  • Valid CA Speech Language Pathologist License
  • 2+ year of clinical experience as a speech therapist
  • 1+ year of working with the adult population in speech therapy
  • Maintain CPR Certification
  • Must have and maintain a valid driver’s license, maintain automobile insurance coverage and have access to an automobile.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct comprehensive evaluations, including assessment of speech/language abilities, cognitive‑communication skills, swallowing function, and home environment needs
  • Lead ongoing interdisciplinary assessments and collaborate with the patient, caregivers, and clinical team to develop and update individualized plans of care
  • Provide speech–language pathology services as ordered by the physician and outlined in the plan of care
  • Offer counseling, support, and guidance to patients, families, and caregivers throughout the course of treatment
  • Educate patients and caregivers on communication strategies, swallowing safety, home exercises, and therapy goals
  • Complete accurate, timely clinical documentation, including visit notes and progress reports
  • Maintain open communication with the physician and healthcare team regarding patient status, progress, and care needs
  • Identify functional speech and language impairments, establish appropriate goals, and implement evidence‑based treatment plans
  • Administer specialized therapeutic techniques and operate necessary equipment to support effective speech and language rehabilitation
  • Recommend and train patients in the use of communication devices or assistive technology as needed
  • Participate in case conferences, interdisciplinary meetings, and in‑service training to ensure coordinated and comprehensive patient care
  • Maintain ongoing clinical competency in speech–language pathology theory, methods, and best practices
  • Identify needs for additional home health services and ensure appropriate referrals
  • When appropriate, supervise home health aides performing tasks directly related to the speech–language therapy plan of care
