About The Position

Mayo Clinic is seeking a medical Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) to join their nationally recognized team in Rochester. This position involves clinical expertise in diagnosing and managing a wide range of speech, language, cognitive, and swallowing disorders. The role will primarily serve patients in an inpatient acute setting and a 36-bed inpatient rehabilitation unit, catering to all age groups, with potential for outpatient involvement. The SLP will be an integral part of a multidisciplinary team, contributing to patient-centered care through evidence-based assessment and intervention, upholding Mayo Clinic's high standards of excellence.

Requirements

Master of Science (MS) or Master of Art (MA) degree in Speech-Language Pathology, Master of Speech Pathology (MSP), or Master of Education in Speech-Language Pathology (M.Ed).
Must hold the Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC) from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association or be participating in an ASHA Clinical Fellowship Year supervised by a Mayo Clinic speech-language pathologist certified by ASHA.
Must be licensed by the State of Minnesota Department of Health in Speech-Language Pathology.
Must maintain all qualifications necessary for state licensing requirements.

Nice To Haves

Proficiency or interest in administering Fiberoptic Endoscopic Evaluation of Swallowing (FEES).
Prior experience in managing highly medically complex patients, ICU and PCU level of care, brain injury, and trach/vent management.
Experience or interest in Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) systems for adult and/or pediatric populations.

Responsibilities

Diagnose and manage a broad spectrum of speech, language, cognitive, and swallowing disorders in inpatient acute and rehabilitation settings.
Provide patient-centered care through evidence-based assessment and intervention.
Collaborate within a multidisciplinary team.
Evaluate and treat adults with neurogenic communication impairments, including aphasia, apraxia, dysarthria, and cognitive-communication deficits.
Perform Videofluoroscopic Swallowing Studies (VFSS).
Administer Fiberoptic Endoscopic Evaluation of Swallowing (FEES) (preferred).
Manage highly medically complex patients, including those in ICU and PCU levels of care, with brain injury, and requiring trach/vent management (preferred).
Utilize Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) systems for adult and/or pediatric populations (experience or interest desired).
