About The Position

Mercyhealth is seeking a Speech Language Pathologist for an Inpatient PRN position. This role involves performing evaluations and assessments using evidence-based standards to create effective plans of care. The Speech Language Pathologist will apply critical thinking and integrative treatment to improve patient functional levels, maintain thorough records of services with appropriate coding and billing, and communicate with other disciplines and referring providers to enhance outcomes. The position requires thorough and timely electronic documentation, strengths in care delivery as evidenced by peer review feedback, and consistent demonstration of advanced evaluation and treatment techniques. Additionally, the role includes assisting in the orientation, training, and mentoring of new partners, participating in cost-saving initiatives, and being an active participant in the Performance Improvement process. A high standard of patient care and effective communication between speech language pathologists, nursing, the rehabilitation team, and the physician group is expected. The role also involves planning and conducting lectures and training programs on speech language pathology and related topics for medical staff, students, and community groups.

Requirements

  • Master’s Degree from an accredited school of Speech Language Pathology
  • Licensed as a speech language pathologist in WI, IL or both if required
  • Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC) from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA)
  • CPR/BLS required within 90 days of hire
  • Passing the Driver’s License Check and/or Credit Check (for those positions requiring).
  • Passing the WI Caregiver Background Check and/or IL Health Care Workers Background Check.
  • Must be able to follow written/oral instructions.
  • Stand – Occasionally or condition exists up to 1/3 of the time
  • Walk – Occasionally or condition exists up to 1/3 of the time
  • Sit – Frequently or condition exists up to 1/3 - 2/3 of the time
  • Handling/Fingering/Feeling – Frequently or condition exists up to 1/3 - 2/3 of the time

  • Strength – Light work exerting up to 25 pounds of force occasionally
