About The Position

Provides assessment, treatment, care, and evaluation for patients with cognitive, speech, language, voice, and fluency disorders. Gains confidence and cooperation from the patient, their family/support group, and other healthcare providers through competent patient assessment, attentive monitoring and care, and effective communication. Adheres to all local/state/federal regulations, codes, policies and procedures to ensure privacy and safety while delivering optimal patient care. Assists with clinical supervision of assistants and aides, and serves as clinical instructor for assigned students.

Requirements

  • Master's degree from an accredited speech pathology program.
  • 2 years recent relevant experience.
  • Licensed Speech Pathologist.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) Healthcare Provider certification.
  • Critical thinking, complex problem solving, decisive judgment.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Knowledge and application of professional practice and regulatory requirements.
  • Ability to work in a demanding work environment.
  • Ability to organize multiple priorities and complete work duties within expected timelines and requirements.
  • Computer and required technology proficiency/competencies.
  • Effective and efficient professional communication (verbal & written) skills.
  • Interpersonal skills, conflict resolution, teamwork/collaboration, customer service and community relations abilities.
  • Ability to retain and apply new knowledge & skills.
  • Keeps abreast of professional practice development and advancement.

Responsibilities

  • Assessment, treatment, care, and evaluation for patients with cognitive, speech, language, voice, and fluency disorders.
  • Gaining confidence and cooperation from the patient, their family/support group, and other healthcare providers through competent patient assessment, attentive monitoring and care, and effective communication.
  • Adhering to all local/state/federal regulations, codes, policies and procedures to ensure privacy and safety while delivering optimal patient care.
  • Assisting with clinical supervision of assistants and aides.
  • Serving as clinical instructor for assigned students.
  • Handling hazardous drugs in the course of their work, including patient care, which requires them to manage, store, prepare, receive, unpack, transport, dispose of, or administer drugs identified as hazardous or potentially hazardous by the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH) and in accordance with the USP 800 guidelines.
