The Speech Language Pathologist Assistant (SLPA) is responsible for providing ongoing speech and language services and appropriate intervention services to eligible students. The SLPA will maintain speech and language special education records and documentation as directed by the Special Programs Coordinator: Special Education. This role involves planning and delivering individual and group therapy, coordinating student progress with the SLP, and participating in determining student progress and readiness for therapy termination. The SLPA will also attend ARD committee meetings, communicate with outside therapy companies, and maintain confidential student records in compliance with district, state, and federal guidelines. Additionally, the SLPA will act as a liaison with classroom teachers to ensure IEP implementation and collaborate on activities to improve students' oral and written language skills. Collaboration with special education, RTI, ESL, and general education teachers is expected, along with maintaining positive relationships with colleagues and supervisors. The SLPA must stay current with federal, state, and local requirements relevant to special education programs, particularly in speech and language therapy, and provide timely reports and information as requested. Other duties may be assigned by the Executive Director of Student Services and Special Programs Coordinator: Special Education.
