About The Position

Arizona Autism Charter Schools (AZACS) is seeking a Speech Language Pathologist Assistant (SLPA) for their Tucson Campus for the 26/27 school year. AZACS is an award-winning organization recognized for its innovation in education and providing unique individualized learning programs for autism charter schools. The SLPA will work under the supervision of a Speech Language Pathologist to implement student communication strategies, track progress on IEP goals, engage in data-driven instruction, and implement Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) strategies. The role involves delivering services in a classroom integration model, coaching classroom staff, and maintaining paperwork compliance.

Requirements

Associate’s degree or higher in Speech Pathology
Certified SLPA in the State of Arizona
Arizona IVP Fingerprint clearance card
Experience delivering services in a school setting, in a classroom integration model, is preferred
Ability to approach situations with optimism and perseverance
Excellent verbal, written, and organizational skills
Minimum of two years SLPA experience in a school setting preferred
Experience and training in Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) preferred
Stooping, crouching, reaching, standing, walking, fingering, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing, seeing, and repetitive motions.
Light Work: Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects.

Responsibilities

Implementation of student communication strategies
Moving students toward progress on IEP goals
Tracking progress towards the goal and assisting with the completion of progress reports
Engaging in data-driven instruction and therapy
Implementing Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) strategies
Implement goals identified on student IEPs related to Expressive Language Skills and Receptive Language Skills
Support for students with Augmentative Communication Devices
Support classroom curriculum as it relates to language acquisition
Follow school-wide systems, rules, and positive behavior interventions
Deliver services in a classroom integration model
Coach the classroom staff on the implementation of speech/language therapy goals
Communicate effectively and proactively with students and families
Responsible for paperwork compliance with data collections relating to IEP goals
Accountability for growth and proficiency on IEP goals
Participate in annual and ongoing staff training
Provide training for new SLPAs under the guidance and supervision of the SLP
Conduct no less than 2 professional development sessions per year on sensory under the guidance and supervision of the SLP
Provide opportunities for shadowing, coaching, and modeling throughout the year for Tier 3 SLPAs that require additional support with guidance and supervision from the SLP
Complete Medicaid billing
Additional duties as assigned
