About The Position

Veritas Prep is a public, tuition-free charter school in Springfield serving students in grades 5–12 and preparing them for college and careers. The Speech Language Pathologist Assistant works alongside Speech Language Pathologists and other school professionals to support students with communication disorders and speech impairments. The role assists with assessments, implements interventions from students’ individualized education plans, collaborates with teachers and families, and tracks progress in students’ communication development.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology or a related field.
• Valid certification as a Speech Language Pathology Assistant (SLP-A).
• Experience working with students with speech and language disorders, preferably in an educational setting.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• Ability to collaborate effectively with a multidisciplinary team.
• Knowledge of laws and regulations governing speech and language services in educational settings.

Responsibilities

• Assist Speech Language Pathologists in conducting assessments to identify students with speech and language disorders.
• Collaborate with Speech Language Pathologists to develop individualized treatment plans for students.
• Implement therapy interventions as outlined in students’ individualized education plans (IEPs).
• Work with teachers to integrate speech and language goals into the academic curriculum.
• Document and track student progress in speech and language development.
• Communicate regularly with Speech Language Pathologists, teachers, and parents or guardians about student performance and treatment plan adjustments.
• Participate in team meetings and contribute insights and recommendations for student support.
• Stay current on best practices in speech-language pathology and contribute to program improvement.
