About The Position

Global Village Academy is an innovative charter school where students learn core academic content through language immersion. Language offerings vary by campus: our North - Thornton campus offers Spanish, Mandarin Chinese, and Russian, while our Aurora and Douglas County campuses offer Spanish, Mandarin Chinese, and French. The Speech-Language Pathology Assistant (SLPA) supports the Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) in providing speech and language services to students. Under the supervision of a licensed and/or certified Speech-Language Pathologist, the SLPA implements treatment plans, documents student progress, assists with screenings and assessments, prepares therapy materials, and performs clerical and organizational duties. This position helps promote student communication skills while supporting the school's commitment to academic achievement and student success.

Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Speech-Language Pathology, Communication Disorders, Speech Communications, or a closely related field.
Colorado Department of Education (CDE) Speech-Language Pathology Assistant Authorization required.
Knowledge of speech and language development and communication disorders.
Ability to implement therapy plans developed by a supervising Speech-Language Pathologist.
Strong organizational skills with attention to detail and accurate documentation.
Effective verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to establish positive working relationships with students, staff, and families.
Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise sound professional judgment.
Proficiency with computers and electronic documentation systems.
Ability to work independently while following professional supervision and established protocols.
Strong time management and multitasking skills.
Ability to sit, stand, walk, bend, kneel, and move throughout the school day.
Ability to lift and carry instructional materials and equipment up to 25 pounds.
Ability to assist students as needed during therapy sessions.
Frequent use of a computer and standard office equipment.

Nice To Haves

Previous experience working with children or individuals with communication disorders is preferred.
Experience in an educational setting is preferred but not required.
CPR/First Aid certification preferred or ability to obtain after hire.

Responsibilities

Implement speech and language therapy activities according to treatment plans and intervention protocols developed by the supervising Speech-Language Pathologist.
Provide individual and small-group therapy services under the direction of the supervising Speech-Language Pathologist.
Collect, document, and maintain accurate objective and subjective data regarding student performance and progress toward established goals.
Report student progress, observations, and concerns to the supervising Speech-Language Pathologist in a timely manner.
Prepare therapy materials, organize instructional resources, and maintain therapy equipment.
Assist with informal assessments and conduct non-standardized screenings as directed by the supervising Speech-Language Pathologist.
Accompany students to and from classrooms and therapy locations while ensuring student safety and confidentiality.
Maintain accurate electronic records, therapy notes, attendance logs, and other required documentation.
Perform clerical duties including filing, copying, scheduling support, and data entry.
Collaborate regularly with the supervising Speech-Language Pathologist regarding student treatment plans and therapy implementation.
Participate in staff meetings, professional development, Individualized Education Program (IEP) meetings, committees, and other school activities as assigned.
Maintain compliance with school policies, IDEA, FERPA, and other applicable federal and state regulations.
Foster positive relationships with students, staff, and families while maintaining professionalism and confidentiality.
Perform other duties as assigned.
