The Speech-Language Pathology Assistant (SLPA) works under the direct supervision of a Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) and in accordance with the guidelines established by the Alberta College of Speech-Language Pathologists and Audiologists. Working collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team, the SLPA supports the development of children's speech, language, communication, and social interaction skills through the implementation of individualized and inclusive activities that promote positive developmental outcomes.

Requirements

Diploma in Speech and Language Pathology Assistant
Valid Class 5 Driver’s License and vehicle
Proof of vehicle insurance, registration and 3-year drivers abstract.
Standard First Aid and CPR
Experience working with preschool-aged children in educational, therapeutic, or community-based settings.
Experience supporting children and families from diverse social, economic, and cultural backgrounds.

Nice To Haves

Experience working within a multidisciplinary team environment is considered an asset.

Responsibilities

Deliver speech and language interventions under the direction and supervision of a Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP).
Collaborate with multidisciplinary team members, families, and caregivers to support children's communication and developmental goals.
Implement a variety of intervention approaches, including individual, small-group, and classroom-based programming.
Promote communication, language, and social development through play-based and inclusive learning experiences.
Participate in home visits, parent engagement activities, team meetings, and case conferences as required.
Prepare, organize, and maintain therapy materials, documentation, and participant records in accordance with confidentiality standards.
Provide administrative support to the SLP and contribute to a positive, collaborative team environment.
