About The Position

The Creekside School is seeking a compassionate, collaborative, and motivated Speech-Language Pathologist Assistant (SLPA) to join our multidisciplinary team. Under the supervision of a licensed Speech-Language Pathologist, you’ll help students with autism and other developmental disabilities strengthen communication skills that support learning, relationships, and independence. Our school provides individualized educational and therapeutic services that support communication, academic, social, behavioral, and life skills. As an SLPA, you’ll help students practice and use communication skills in therapy sessions and throughout the school day. You might support a student using an AAC system, reinforce communication goals during a classroom activity, or work with your supervising SLP to support a student’s growing independence. You’ll build trusting relationships, recognize each student’s strengths, and contribute to a team that values steady progress and shared learning.

Requirements

• Completion of an accredited Speech-Language Pathologist Assistant (SLPA) program.
• Current California SLPA license or registration, as required.
• Knowledge of speech and language development and common communication disorders.
• Ability to implement treatment plans under the supervision of a licensed Speech-Language Pathologist.
• Strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
• Commitment to building positive relationships with students, families, and colleagues.

Nice To Haves

• Experience working with children with autism spectrum disorders or developmental disabilities.
• Experience in a Nonpublic School (NPS), special education, or therapeutic educational setting.
• Familiarity with augmentative and alternative communication (AAC) systems.
• Knowledge of IEP processes and special education regulations.
• Experience collaborating within multidisciplinary teams.
• Bilingual skills are a plus.

Responsibilities

• Implement individualized speech and language therapy plans under the supervision of a licensed Speech-Language Pathologist.
• Provide direct speech-language therapy services to students individually and in small groups.
• Help students develop speech, language, social communication, and functional communication skills.
• Assist with the implementation of augmentative and alternative communication (AAC) systems and communication strategies.
• Document student progress and maintain accurate therapy records.
• Prepare therapy materials and organize treatment activities.
• Collaborate with Speech-Language Pathologists, teachers, families, and other multidisciplinary team members to support student success.
• Reinforce communication goals throughout the educational environment.
• Participate in team meetings, IEP discussions as appropriate, and professional development opportunities.
• Follow school policies, supervision requirements, and applicable state and federal regulations.
• Contribute to a positive, collaborative school culture.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
