About The Position

Harborview Rehab Therapies has an outstanding opportunity for a Speech Language Pathologist 1. This is a part-time position, working 32 hours per week on the day shift. The UW Medicine Rehabilitation department is a multidisciplinary team focused on compassion and innovation, working with specialists to provide the best path to recovery for patients. They are recognized by U.S. News & World Report as one of the top rehabilitation programs in the nation. The Speech Language Pathologist will be responsible for evaluating, planning, directing, and administering speech/language pathology evaluations and interventions for patients with communication and swallowing disorders, as referred by a licensed provider. This role involves administering treatments to restore function and prevent disability, assisting patients to reach their maximum performance level, developing clinical programs, participating in operational aspects and quality improvement activities, managing patient charges and documentation, and participating in various departmental and organizational training programs.

Requirements

  • Licensed by the State of Washington as a Speech Language Pathologist
  • Master’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology or Communicative Disorders or equivalent degree approved by the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association
  • A Certificate of Clinical Competence from the American Speech/Language and Hearing Association.
  • Equivalent education and/or experience may substitute for minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements, such as a license, certification, and/or registration.

Responsibilities

  • Evaluation, planning, directing and administering speech/language pathology evaluation and intervention to patients with communication and swallowing disorders, as referred by a licensed provider.
  • Administer treatments as determined by the evaluation in an effort to restore function and prevent disability following disease or injury.
  • Assist patients to reach their maximum performance and level of functioning, while learning to live within the limits of their capabilities.
  • Develop clinical programs for optimum patient care and service.
  • Participate in operational aspects, performance improvement, and Quality Improvement activities within the department.
  • Provide input in formulating budget, assist in evaluation of departmental performance, and take action to remain in budget guidelines.
  • Ensure that patient charges and documentation are accurate and entered on a timely basis.
  • Participate in infection control, equipment training, compliance, safety and educational programs, both at the departmental and organizational level.
