About The Position

Great Prairie Area Education Agency has an opening for a Speech-Language Assistant to assist virtual Speech Language Pathologists. This position is available for a 96-Day or 181-Day schedule (7-hour days) beginning with the 2026-2027 school year. The Speech-Language Assistant provides articulation, language, voice and fluency services to students as specified by the assigned Speech-Language Pathologist.

Requirements

  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Hold a high school diploma or its equivalent.
  • Experience or capacity to demonstrate positive interpersonal skills.
  • Cooperative teamwork.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication.

Responsibilities

  • Implements speech-language activities as directed by the Speech-Language Pathologist.
  • Identifies and records correct/incorrect student responses.
  • Maintain communication with assigned Speech-Language Pathologist on an ongoing basis.
  • Assists Speech-Language Pathologist in material preparation.
  • Participates in parent/teacher conferences or staffings as requested by the Speech-Language Pathologist.
  • Maintains confidentiality of all student information.
  • Maintains data required for use in local school district (LEA), AEA, state and federal reporting.
  • Assumes such other duties and responsibilities as may be assigned by the assigned Speech-Language Pathologist and the Regional Special Education Director.
  • Participate in staff development opportunities as requested by the assigned Speech-Language Pathologist and the Regional Director.
