About The Position

Great Prairie Area Education Agency is hiring a Speech-Language Assistant On-Call Sub to serve Region 3 during the 2026–2027 school year. The position provides articulation, language, voice, and fluency services to students as specified by the assigned Speech-Language Pathologist. Region 3 includes Cardinal, Davis County, Moulton-Udell, Ottumwa, Ottumwa Christian, and Seton Catholic.

Starting pay is $16.89–$17.39 per hour, with a mileage rate of $0.50 per mile.

Requirements

• Must be at least 18 years of age.
• Must hold a high school diploma or its equivalent.
• Must have experience or the capacity to demonstrate positive interpersonal skills, cooperative teamwork, and excellent written and verbal communication.
• Ability to travel between schools and sites served.

Responsibilities

• Implements speech-language activities as directed by the Speech-Language Pathologist.
• Identifies and records correct and incorrect student responses.
• Maintains ongoing communication with the assigned Speech-Language Pathologist.
• Assists the Speech-Language Pathologist with material preparation.
• Participates in parent/teacher conferences or staffings as requested by the Speech-Language Pathologist.
• Maintains confidentiality of all student information.
• Maintains data required for local school district (LEA), AEA, state, and federal reporting.
• Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the assigned Speech-Language Pathologist and the Regional Special Education Director.
• Participates in staff development opportunities as requested by the assigned Speech-Language Pathologist and the Regional Director.
