About The Position

St. Catherine of Siena Nursing and Rehabilitation and St. Catherine of Siena Hospital are proud members of Catholic Health and have served the residents of the Smithtown area for more than 50 years. St. Catherine's is located on the north shore of Long Island in Smithtown. The campus is comprised of a 240-bed nursing and rehabilitation care center; 296-bed not-for-profit community hospital and a 60,000 square foot medical office building. Requirements

  • Master's Degree in Speech-Language Pathology required.
  • Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech and Language from American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA).
  • New York State license and registration in Speech-Language Pathology required.
  • BLS certification through American Heart Association required.
  • Healthcare experience is required.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to comply with all regulatory standards.

Nice To Haves

  • MBS (Modified Barium Swallow) experience/ competency preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Evaluate and treat patients with speech, language and/or swallowing impairments.
  • Perform objective swallow evaluations.
  • Recommend least restrictive safe diet consistencies to maximize patient nutrition.
  • Develop individualized treatment plans and set goals for patients diagnosed as needing speech and language / feeding/swallowing interventions. Re-evaluate and modify treatment programs as warranted.
  • Accurate documentation for all patient visits in EMR
  • Educate patient and family members
  • Work with interdisciplinary team for plan of care
