About The Position

Genesee Lake School is currently seeking a Speech & Language Pathologist to join our team in Oconomowoc! The Speech and Language Pathologist will work under the direction and supervision of the Education Director in our K-12 Alternative Education setting. This will include screening, evaluating, diagnosing, and treating disorders of communication. These disorders of speech and language may include needs in articulation, fluency, voice and resonance, receptive and expressive language, pragmatics, cognitive aspects of communication, and augmentative and alternative communication (AAC). The right candidate will be passionate and experienced in specialized AAC evaluation and instruction. This position will develop and execute specific components of a speech and language program as specified in an individualized educational plan (IEP) as well as support the larger Genesee Lake School Community.

Requirements

  • Master’s Degree in Speech Language Pathology required
  • Speech and Language Pathology (1820) licensure or eligibility for licensure required
  • Knowledge of and experience with a wide range of communication disorders and their assessment and intervention strategies.
  • Familiarity with diagnostic tools, standardized assessment measures, and intervention techniques specific to school-based speech and language pathology.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills to collaborate effectively with students, parents/guardians, teachers, and other professionals.
  • Work independently, manage caseloads, and prioritize tasks effectively

Nice To Haves

  • 1 year of experience in the field of Special Education preferred
  • Experience in AAC instruction and evaluation preferred

Responsibilities

  • Evaluation and treatment of students with disorders in speech/language and cognition.
  • Development of goals, objectives, and materials for the treatment of speech/language and cognitive impairments; including activities, low technology AAC, etc.
  • Data recording, billing and daily, quarterly, and annual written communication of students’ progress and current levels.
  • Staff training on use of speech/language strategies, AAC Systems to implement in the classrooms, etc.
  • Attendance at meetings including IEPs, weekly staffing, training/education.
  • AAC programming, report-writing, and implementation.
  • Know and utilize differing models of speech and language service delivery as needed to meet student needs (co-teaching, inclusion, resource room, supplemental and supplanted instruction)
  • Organize and implement instruction within the speech/language model that serves students in accordance with the IEP
  • Communication with outside school district staff, families, therapeutic and program teams, and vendors.
