About The Position

Devereux Advanced Behavioral Health New York is seeking a Speech and Language Pathologist (SLP) to join their multi-disciplinary team. This role involves evaluating, remediating, and consulting on speech, language, voice, and hearing issues that affect student communication. The SLP will conduct initial student evaluations, prepare diagnostic reports, implement individual and group therapy programs, and track student progress. Additionally, the SLP will collaborate with staff to coordinate program planning, identify therapy needs, and integrate clinical recommendations regarding behavioral/emotional difficulties. The position is located in Mount Kisco, NY, and serves children and adults with intellectual disabilities, Autism Spectrum Disorder, and dual diagnoses.

Requirements

• Masters Degree in Speech Pathology or Therapy
• NYS Certification in Speech and Language
• Free of dependency and abuse of illegal or illicit drugs, alcohol, inhalants or other chemical or controlled substances.
• Significant, prolonged, and frequent amounts of walking, standing, sitting, stooping, bending, and lifting of 25 lbs or more.
• Using standard crisis intervention procedures, must be able to singlehandedly effect the initial restraint of children and adolescents weighing between 75 and 150 lbs.
• Possible exposure to blood borne pathogens.

Nice To Haves

• Previous experience remediating speech and/or language difficulties in a school, hospital, treatment facility, etc., is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate, remediate, and provide consultative assistance on speech, language, voice, and hearing problems that impede student’s effective communication.
• Evaluate students upon intake and prepare diagnostic reports.
• Conduct individual and/or group therapy programs.
• Prepare reports to evaluate the progress of each student seen in therapy.
• Liaison and consult with staff to coordinate program planning.
• Determine the need for therapy and implement recommendations of clinical staff in regard to behavioral/emotional difficulties.
