About The Position

This position is located primarily in the Bonnie Springer School within the Murdoch Developmental Center, specifically in the Edgewood Cottage, working with school-age children and youth who have behavioral issues in the PATH (Partners in Autism Treatment and Habilitation) program. The Speech and Language Pathologist (SLP) is an integral part of an interdisciplinary team, contributing to all aspects of the individuals' care and treatment. The role involves conducting assessments, providing direct and indirect treatment, offering training to other staff and disciplines as needed, and participating in scheduled interdisciplinary meetings. Communication systems are integrated across various settings, including the classroom at Bonnie Springer School, residential units at Summerset Cottage, and the PATH and Wright group homes. This is a 12-month position.

Requirements

  • Demonstrated working knowledge of speech and language pathology, standardized (and functional non-standardized) tests and evaluation methods, principles, and procedures.
  • Understanding of a variety of communication disorders and causes in children/adults.
  • Demonstrated ability in assessing and treating communication difficulties associated with a variety of developmental disorders.
  • Previous experience working with interdisciplinary teams.
  • Ability to learn and implement formal behavioral interventions.
  • Must have/be eligible for their CCC or CFY from ASHA.
  • Must have/be eligible for the NC SLP license.
  • Licensed by the Board of Examiners for Speech and Language Pathologists and Audiologist.
