About The Position

The Department of Human Communication Studies at CSU Fullerton invites applications for its Speech and Debate Forensic Graduate Assistant Pool. We welcome applications from current CSUF graduate students in the Department of Human Communications Studies for a position as a Forensics Graduate Assistant who supports instructional, research, and competitive activities for the Speech and Debate Forensics. The position requires a high level of professionalism, reliability, and clear communication. This is a pool of Speech and Debate Forensic Graduate Assistants for the department to draw on as necessary. Assignments are temporary and often made just prior to the start of the academic term. Applicants may be offered course assignments on very short notice.

Requirements

Candidate must be a currently enrolled graduate student in the M.A. program in Human Communications Studies Department
Must be in good academic standing
Subsequent appointment, evidence of satisfactory progress toward completion of the degree.
High level of professionalism, reliability, and clear communication to faculty, staff, students, and community.

Candidates should demonstrate their ability to interact and work effectively with a wide and culturally diverse range of students, including first-generation college students.
Preference will be given to those with significant experience working with diverse populations and fostering a collaborative, supportive and inclusive environment.

Responsibilities

Attend weekly class/lecture meetings assigned by the Co-Directors/Faculty
Provide research and speech assistance to students in preparation of assigned research files
Attend required team events, tournaments, coaching practices, judging sessions
Assist with tournament preparation and logistics
Hold weekly office hours
Other duties assigned to support the team
