The SPED Teacher will be responsible for accurately demonstrating knowledge of content and pedagogy, understanding students' individual development, special needs, skills, and knowledge. This role involves selecting and using appropriate resources, adhering to Individualized Education Programs (IEP) and 504 plans, and designing coherent lessons, activities, and assessments that align with learning standards. The teacher will create a positive and respectful learning environment, manage classroom procedures and student behavior effectively, and communicate clearly with students. Collaboration with parents, teachers, counselors, and administrators is crucial for resolving student issues. The position requires demonstrating high expectations, effective lesson delivery, strong questioning and discussion techniques, and providing timely, high-quality feedback. The teacher will utilize assessments during instruction, show flexibility and responsiveness to student learning, and reflect on teaching practices to improve student achievement. Maintaining accurate records, managing classroom equipment and supplies, and communicating effectively with families about student progress are also key responsibilities. The role includes participating in and contributing to the professional community, pursuing continued professional growth, and exhibiting professionalism in all interactions. Additionally, the SPED Teacher must report any suspected child endangerment, neglect, or abuse, enforce administration policies, attend professional meetings and development sessions, assist in student supervision in various school settings, and sponsor extracurricular activities. Other duties as assigned by the Principal or administrators are also part of the role.
