About The Position

Christel House Indianapolis is seeking a full-time K-5 Special Education Teacher for Academy South. The role involves creating empowering opportunities through an equitable, rigorous, and holistic education for students and alumni, enabling them to actualize aspirations and develop leadership skills. The teacher will support the whole child, teaching character education and social-emotional learning strategies, and will collaborate with a supportive team including interventionists, instructional coaches, social workers, and counselors. The school emphasizes four foundational values: responsibility, respect, integrity, and independence.

Requirements

Indiana Teaching License in Special Education
Bachelor’s degree
Competency in using technology in the classroom setting
Ability to report to work on a regular and punctual basis
A strong belief in the mission and goals of Christel House Schools

Responsibilities

Maintaining all special education documentation and timelines for case conferences in accordance with state and federal requirements.
Ensuring the delivery of services outlined in individual education plans for students with disabilities in accordance with state and federal guidelines.
Plan, prepare and deliver engaging, standards-aligned lesson plans, instructional materials, and assessments that facilitate active learning.
Manage student behavior in the classroom by establishing and enforcing rules and procedures.
Encourage and monitor the progress of individual students and use the information to adjust teaching strategies.
Demonstrate a desire for working with students from diverse cultural, economic and ability backgrounds.
Participate in appropriate professional activities.
Ability and willingness to work collaboratively; maintaining cooperative and effective working relationships.
