About The Position

As a collaborative member of the Special Education team, this person will be responsible for teaching, evaluating and implementing programming for severe significant needs students utilizing inclusion practices whenever possible. This role requires working knowledge of effective behavior techniques and Autism instruction and intervention. The teacher will consult with Special and Regular Education teams, daily collect and track student academic and behavior data, and perform continuous management of caseload, including IEP documents and meetings, parent communication, and behavior plans. Additionally, the role involves training and supervising paraprofessional staff in one-on-one instruction of students and meeting professional obligations as determined by the district and site.

Requirements

  • Special Education Generalist License - Colorado Department of Education
  • Bachelor's Degree (Required)

Responsibilities

  • Document health related services in designated Medicaid documentation system for the DCSD School Medicaid Reimbursement Program as assigned.
  • Support students with academic problems and support certain extracurricular activities.
  • Participate in department and school meetings, and parent meetings.
  • Manage student behavior in the classroom by establishing and enforcing rules and procedures, maintain discipline in accordance with the rules and disciplinary systems of the school, and applying appropriate disciplinary measures where necessary.
  • Maintain accurate and complete records of students' progress and development preparing required reports on students and activities.
  • Utilize technology and integrate the use of technology to provide a variety of learning materials and resources for use in educational activities.
  • Instruct and monitor students in the use of learning materials and equipment.
  • Observe, evaluate, encourage and provide feedback on student's performance and development.
  • Plan, prepare and deliver instructional activities that facilitate active learning experiences.
  • Establish and communicate clear objectives for all learning activities.
