About The Position

This role involves collaborating with students, parents, and staff to develop and implement Individual Education Plans (IEPs) through the Admission, Review, and Dismissal (ARD) Committee process. The teacher will implement instructional programs, adapt curricula, and manage student behavior to foster a positive learning environment. This position requires regular attendance at the worksite and travel throughout the district.

Requirements

  • Demonstrated knowledge of the Admission, Review, and Dismissal Committee process and Individual Educational Plan goal setting process and implementation.
  • Demonstrated general knowledge of curriculum and instruction.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of computer software programs such as Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of laws, regulations, practices, principles, and procedures pertaining to auditing and accounting.
  • Demonstrated ability to write clear and conclusive audit work papers and concise narrative audit reports.
  • Demonstrated tact and diplomacy in working with various district and non-district personnel.
  • Demonstrated organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills required to achieve the goals of the position.
  • Bachelor's Degree from an accredited university.
  • Valid Texas teacher certificate with required endorsements for subject and subject level assigned.
  • Demonstrated flexibility to cope with the challenges of a rapidly changing world.
  • Demonstrated willingness to remain current with the latest developments in the profession.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with students, parents, and staff to develop Individual Education Plans (IEPs) through the Admission, Review, and Dismissal (ARD) Committee process.
  • Implement instructional, therapeutic, or skill development programs for assigned students, with written evidence of preparation.
  • Plan and utilize appropriate instructional strategies, activities, materials, and equipment that cater to diverse learning styles and needs.
  • Work with classroom teachers to modify regular curricula and assist special education students in regular classes.
  • Participate in ARD Committee meetings and interpret educational programs to the community.
  • Consult with classroom teachers regarding student behavior management according to IEPs.
  • Present subject matter according to IEP guidelines.
  • Conduct ongoing assessments of student achievement through formal and informal testing.
  • Compile, maintain, and file all required reports, records, and documents.
  • Create a classroom environment conducive to learning and appropriate for students' physical, social, and emotional development.
  • Manage student behavior and administer discipline, including crisis intervention and physical restraint as necessary according to IEPs.
  • Stay informed of and comply with all relevant federal, state, district, and school regulations and policies for special education teachers.
  • Maintain regular and punctual attendance at the worksite.
