About The Position
Special Ed Instructional Assistant – Preschool Classroom
Requirements
- Para-educator License with early childhood endorsement or CDA or 2 year Degree or higher preferred
- Good communication skills/Interpersonal skills
- Under the Every Student Succeeds Act prior to starting, you must have one of the following: · Two years of study at an institution of higher education; or · Associate degree or higher; or · Obtain voluntary certification through the Board of Educational Examiners(Paraeducator Certification); or · Successful completion of ACT WorkKeys® (NCRC Assessment).
Nice To Haves
- Knowledge and experience in behavior modification program preferred
- Positive, caring, and patient individuals preferred
- Enjoys working with students with behavior challenges
- Ability to redirect students towards positive behaviors
Responsibilities
- Ability to work with challenging students
- Be able to work with students academically and socially
- Able to attend to personal hygiene of students
- Assist in implementing the preschool curriculum and assessment
- Responsible for documentation and record-keeping
- If required able to communicate with student's case manager, medical providers, and caregivers
- Ability to lift 50 pounds
