The SpEd Paraprofessional - SSN performs day-to-day teaching activities for special education students under the supervision of a teacher. This role does not involve making diagnostic or long-term educational decisions for special education students. Assignments may take place in non-traditional learning environments, including on-campus and off-campus work sites. The paraprofessional supports the principal and classroom teachers in implementing Significant Support Needs (SSN) programs and fostering a positive and safe learning environment. They assist licensed special education teachers, occupational therapists, physical therapists, nurses, and other evaluative staff in achieving the goals for severely/profoundly disabled students. It is important to note that this position addresses current student needs at a specific school. If student needs change at the current program/school, the individual may be reassigned to another school demonstrating such needs at any point during the school year.
