The SpEd Paraprofessional - SSN performs the day-to-day activities of teaching special education students under the supervision of a teacher. This role does not make diagnostic or long-term educational decisions for special education students. Assignments may include non-traditional learning environments such as building and off-campus work sites. The paraprofessional supports the principal and classroom teachers in implementing the Significant Support Needs (SSN) programs and fosters a positive and safe learning environment. They assist licensed special education teachers, occupational therapists, physical therapists, nurses, and other evaluative staff in implementing the goals for severely/profoundly disabled students. Note: This position addresses current student needs at the specified school. If the program/school experiences a change in student needs, the individual may be required to change locations to another school where needs are demonstrated. This could occur at any time during the school year. The district reserves the right to modify or change the duties or essential functions of this job at any time.
