Provide safe transportation for SPED and/or RISE students to and from home and campus daily while reducing operational cost. This role involves safely transporting students, driving a SPED-approved vehicle in accordance with time schedules, and transporting students to and from their homes, various school sites, and on field trips. The driver will oversee the loading and unloading of students, release students only to authorized individuals, and ensure safety belts are fastened. Maintaining order and discipline among passengers, resolving disputes, and documenting/reporting severe disciplinary cases are also key aspects of the role. The driver must follow all safety rules and procedures, conduct daily vehicle inspections, and maintain various records including mileage, routing, maintenance, and time schedules. They will also notify appropriate individuals of any delays and maintain updated credentials according to DOT and IDEA policy. The role requires taking direction and feedback well, maintaining open communication with campus managers, accepting feedback, and self-reflecting on performance for continuous improvement. Additionally, the driver must manage multiple tasks by prioritizing work, adapt to changing circumstances, and handle various tasks simultaneously within established time constraints.
