About The Position

Under the general supervision of the School Principal, the SPED Resource Teacher facilitates student success and growth in academic and interpersonal skills through implementing specialized instruction using research-based interventions and district curriculum. This role involves documenting teaching and student progress, addressing specific educational needs, and creating a flexible, safe, and optimal learning environment. The teacher will provide feedback to students, parents, and administration regarding student progress, expectations, and goals. Key responsibilities include writing and implementing IEP goals and behavior intervention plans, ensuring timelines are met for meetings and compliance, and collaborating with general education teachers and related service providers to support student progress on IEP goals.

Requirements

SPED license is required
Mild /Moderate Disabilities (M/M) endorsement is required

Responsibilities

Organizes and facilitates developmentally appropriate learning opportunities to ensure student participation and improve academic success.
Adapts classroom work to provide students with instructional materials that address individualized learning within established curriculum guidelines.
Assesses student progress toward objectives, expectations, and/or goals.
Advises parents and/or legal guardians of student progress.
Directs assistant teacher, special education paraeducator, volunteers, and/or student workers.
Collaborates effectively with special education teacher, related servers, instructional coach, and other colleagues.
Manages student behavior to provide a safe and optimal learning environment.
Monitors preschool students in a variety of educational environments.
Models conversation, manners, clean up activities, listening skills, etc.
Prepares a variety of written materials (e.g., weekly newsletters, assessment reports, lesson plans, etc.).
Attends IEP meetings for students as needed.
Responds to emergency situations.
Administers first aid and/or dispenses medications.
Responds to inquiries from a variety of sources.
Participates in a variety of meetings.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
