About The Position

Responsible for providing assistance to special education teachers; assists in instruction, medical and health needs of special education students (preschool-age); provides some clerical support. The location of this position is based on student need and is subject to change as needed.

Requirements

  • High School or Equivalent (Required)
  • First Aid & CPR Certification - American Heart Association
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with all stakeholders to support positive outcomes
  • Demonstrated computer skills including word processing, database and spreadsheets
  • Maintains a generally positive attitude.
  • Observes all District policies and procedures.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Verbal and written communication skills in English and a demonstrated ability to read and comprehend written/graphic and oral instructions

Responsibilities

  • Assist students with daily functions such as food preparation, hand over hand or tube feeding, toileting; etc.
  • Collaborates and consults with special needs team and other specialist.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned or requested.
  • May provide assistance with a variety of daily functions such as behavior support as well as life skills instruction.
  • Document health related services in designated Medicaid documentation system for the DCSD School Medicaid Reimbursement Program as assigned.
  • Implement daily and long range lessons.
