About The Position

At Tutor Me Education, we are revolutionizing the way students learn, and we're seeking passionate teachers and tutors with special education experience to provide 1:1 in-home tutoring in Riverside, CA ! About the Role: As an Tutor at Tutor Me Education, you’ll provide personalized, one-on-one tutoring to students with special needs in their homes. You will be responsible for helping students with daily activities, offering moral support, and delivering tailored instruction based on their Individualized Education Plan (IEP). We are currently hiring for multiple positions across all cities in Riverside, CA Details: In-Person Tutoring in Riverside, CA Schedule: 25 hours, 2 sessions a week for 2.5 -3 hours Pay range is between $25 and $35 Ideal Candidate: Experienced special education tutor with a strong understanding of autism and foundational skill development. Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) or tutor with solid behavior-intervention experience. Skilled in foundational literacy, including phonemic awareness, blending sounds, sight words, and early writing development. Comfortable supporting foundational math skills, including counting, addition, and subtraction. Patient, calm, and able to implement sensory strategies, short work intervals, and positive reinforcement. Able to create and implement structured lesson plans, as the student does not receive homework. Comfortable working in a home with a cat (not recommended for tutors with allergies).

Responsibilities

  • Provide individualized instruction in foundational literacy, including phonics, sound blending, sight words, and sentence development.
  • Support writing skills by helping the student move from copying sentences to expressing original ideas.
  • Reinforce foundational math skills and gradually introduce more complex concepts as appropriate.
  • Implement behavior-support strategies to address frustration-related behaviors (e.g., screaming or pinching).
  • Use sensory activities, creative play (e.g., Legos, Play-Doh), and movement breaks to support regulation and engagement.
  • Develop and deliver structured, engaging lesson plans aligned with the student’s IEP goals.
  • Administer an assessment to determine current academic levels and guide instruction.
