About The Position

At Tutor Me Education, we are revolutionizing the way students learn, and we're seeking passionate teachers and tutors with special education experience to provide 1:1 in-home tutoring in Long Beach, CA ! About the Role: As an Tutor at Tutor Me Education, you’ll provide personalized, one-on-one tutoring to students with special needs in their homes. You will be responsible for helping students with daily activities, offering moral support, and delivering tailored instruction based on their Individualized Education Plan (IEP). We are currently hiring for multiple positions across all cities in Long Beach, CA Details: In-Person Tutoring in Long Beach, CA Schedule: 6 hours, 1 session a week at 1.5hrs per session Pay range is between $25 and $35 Ideal Candidate: Credentialed teacher with strong experience in special education, particularly supporting students with Down syndrome, intellectual delays, or speech/language challenges. Fluent in Spanish and English to effectively communicate with the student and family. Skilled in foundational literacy, including sight words, alphabet recognition, early reading skills, and letter formation/writing. Experienced in foundational math instruction, including number recognition (1–30) and early numeracy concepts. Able to manage moderate behaviors using structured, calm, and patient approaches. Comfortable integrating student interests (animals, jungle themes, dinosaurs, Disney characters) to increase engagement. Able to conduct assessments to tailor instruction and track progress. Requirements

Responsibilities

  • Provide individualized instruction in early literacy and reading skills, including sight words, alphabet recognition, and writing letters.
  • Deliver foundational math instruction, focusing on number recognition and early numeracy skills.
  • Use hand-over-hand support and multisensory, visual, and hands-on strategies as needed.
  • Incorporate behavioral strategies to manage moderate frustration and maintain a positive learning environment.
  • Align instruction with OT, speech, and PT goals, coordinating with the student’s support team.
  • Conduct assessments to determine current skill levels and adjust lesson plans accordingly.
