About The Position

Responsible for specimen processing, including sorting, aliquoting, and centrifuging. The role also includes specimen registration, ordering laboratory tests, labeling specimens, monitoring computer reports, and performing other administrative duties as assigned. This is a non-management position that reports to a supervisor, manager, director, or executive. The role is based at Blount Memorial Hospital in the Laboratory-General department and works the day shift.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• No previous experience required.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced team environment.

Nice To Haves

• Six months of experience in a healthcare environment involving computer skills.
• Knowledge of basic medical terminology.

Responsibilities

• Identify, sort, aliquot, centrifuge, and label biological samples.
• Perform semi-technical procedures, such as calculating weight, measuring samples, and recording data.
• Use laboratory computers to enter and retrieve laboratory data.
• Register accounts and order tests in the applicable system.
• Answer telephone inquiries and conduct analytical problem solving.
• Fax results, answer specimen-handling questions, dispatch couriers, and perform other administrative support and laboratory-related customer service duties.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
