Specimen Processors receive, prepare, and process samples for laboratory analyses. They process standard requisitions according to approved procedures, enter patient and specimen data, label and aliquot samples as needed, and sort samples for distribution throughout the laboratory. They also maintain sample storage records, assist with specimen storage, and help ensure turnaround times are met. The role follows applicable standard operating procedures, safety and quality procedures, and maintains a clean, organized work area. Work is performed under close to moderate supervision, with guidance from senior peers on non-complex tasks. The scheduled shift is 11:00 p.m.–5:30 a.m., Monday through Saturday, with one day off and alternating Saturdays. Training is Monday–Friday, 12:00 a.m.–7:00 a.m. The target pay is $22.12 per hour. The laboratory environment may involve biohazards, zoonotic disease agents, and potentially hazardous chemicals; mandatory PPE is used to mitigate these risks. Extended hours may be needed.
